Ceph provides Block Storage, Object Storage as well as shared filesystem.

**Monitor** (`ceph-mon`) maintains cluster state and is crucial for daemon coordination. Also manages authentication between clients and daemons.
**Manager** (`ceph-mgr`) keep track of runtime state such as utilization etc, comes with a dashboard.
**OSD** (`ceph-osd`) These do the actual storage work.
**MDS** (metadatas server, `ceph-mds`) Stores filesystem metadata
	**RGW** (`ceph-radosgw`) API to the cluster. S3 and swift compatible.
